Members of ACORE’s Transportation Initiative leading the transition to an American transportation infrastructure powered by clean, renewable fuels

For Immediate Release - September 10, 2013

Washington, DC - The American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) announced the hiring of Kara Fedors to the position of Transportation Associate. Kara, an accredited LEED Green Associate, will manage ACORE’s Transportation Initiative which aims to ensure the next generation of transportation technologies will be more cost competitive, profitable and resilient.

“I am excited to join ACORE and help to greatly expand the role that renewable energy and technology can play in the American transportation sector. There are any number of hurdles out there, but there is an equal if not greater number of opportunities as well. We need to take advantage of those,” said Kara Fedors.

“I could not be more pleased to welcome Kara to the ACORE team. She has a great deal of work to do and we expect a lot from her, but the Transportation Initiative is too important to our mission here at ACORE to leave to anyone less,” explained Michael Brower, ACORE interim president and CEO. “Following the lessons learned from the publication of the Transportation Industry Review, the ACORE Transportation strategic focus initiative is now running full throttle; everyone ought to expect to see and hear much more from ACORE in the near future.”

“Kara is a great addition at just the right time,” said Dawn Fenton, Volvo Group North America Director of Government Relations & Public Affairs and co-chair of ACORE’s Transportation Initiative. “With the transportation sector accounting for approximately 27% of the United States’ greenhouse gas emissions and relying on gasoline and diesel fuels for 86% of its energy needs, it is important that we continue to look for clean, cost-effective renewable transportation fuels. Having Kara as part of the team will help propel ACORE’s work in the transportation sector.”

Kara studied biology at SUNY Geneseo and went on to work as a research assistant. She obtained her Masters in Environmental Management from Duke University where she focused on global environmental change and energy. After graduation, she worked as a Program Manager in the healthcare industry. She is an accredited LEED Green Associate.

ACORE’s Transportation Initiative brings together leaders within the transportation and renewable energy industries from across all modes of transportation and sources of energy with the goal of creating a 21st century, multi-modal transportation system sourced by renewable energy and fuels.
