Grid Sets Green Energy Record

September 30 -- Power production from renewable sources hit a record Thursday afternoon in San Diego Gas & Electric Co.’s service territory, utility spokeswoman Jennifer Ramp said Friday. About 1,000 megawatts were pumped into the grid from renewable sources such as wind and solar, she said. That was nearly a third of Thursday’s peak consumption of 2,924 megawatts.  >>View Article

Solar Energy Facility Breaks Ground

December 6 -- About 1 million solar panels will soon dot some 1,600 acres near Mount Signal.  Scheduled to reach commercial operation in the fall of 2014, the $700 million Centinela Solar Energy project is expected to generate 170 megawatts and supply San Diego Gas & Electric with enough electricity to power 1 million average households for one year. >>View Article
