We need renewable energy now more than ever - wouldn't you agree?

Yes! I want to help the American Council On Renewable Energy fulfill its mission of building a secure and prosperous America with clean, renewable energy. Through my generous support, ACORE can continue to serve as the leading aggregator of information, research and innovation in renewable energy in 2012 and beyond. My donation will be used to help fund ACOREEUR(TM)s policy research, education and communication initiatives.

Please accept my gift of $50, $100, $200 or $500 today!

ACORE has partnered with Paypal to make the donation process secure and convenient for you. Donations are tax-deductible.

HELP US KEEP RENEWABLES GROWING

The potential benefits derived from a strong, renewable energy supply are many: energy and national security; domestic job growth; and cleaner air and water for all Americans. The time is right for the U.S. to reassert its leadership in scaling up renewables to meet AmericaEUR(TM)s energy needs. We are asking for your help to make that happen.

HERE'S SOME GOOD NEWS ABOUT RENEWABLE ENERGY IN AMERICA

  • The U.S. installed over 6.8 GW of new wind power in 2011 EUR" 31% more than 2010 EUR" and entered 2012 with more than 8.3 GW under construction (American Wind Energy Association).
  • 2011 was another record-breaking year for solar PV, with installations exceeding 1.8 GW EUR" a 109% growth over 2010 EUR" and a total market value of $8.1 billion (Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), GTM Research).
  • Over 1 GW of CSP projects were under construction at the end of 2011. More than 9 GW of CSP projects are currently under development and over 5 GW of these have signed PPAs (SEIA, GTM Research).
  •  The geothermal energy industry added approximately 75 MW in the first quarter of 2012, bringing the total capacity to 3,187 MW. (Geothermal Energy Association).
  • Bioenergy is growing steadily across the board with biofuels, power, biomass thermal energy, biogas and biobased products. Biopower currently accounts for 33% of all renewable energy generated in the U.S. The ethanol industry produced an estimated record of 13.9 billion gallons of ethanol in 2011 (NREL, Renewable Fuels Association).
  • Hydropower continues to be an extraordinarily important renewable resource, with over 96 GW of installed capacity. Over 80,000 MW of new hydropower plants are in the FERC permitting pipeline (EIA).
  • In 2011, total capacity from non-hydro renewable energy projects in the U.S. exceeded 64 GW.
