ACORE is pleased to announce the latest addition to the staff, Bill Moller, who joins as Director of Media Communications.

Bill comes to ACORE with a broad range of experience. He has been an anchor and reporter at television and radio stations in Montana, Des Moines, New Orleans, Orlando and Boston where he worked in the broadcast division of The Christian Science Monitor. Currently during his free time on weekends he hosts The Money Show with Bill Moller on WGN Radio, Chicago's #1 radio station.

For his writing, reporting and anchoring skills he won three Emmys, two Society of Professional Journalist Awards for Exemplary Journalism, and two first place Associated Press awards. His achievements have also been recognized at such prestigious industry events as the International Film & TV Festival and the International Radio Festival of New York.

A firm believer in community involvement, Bill loves to visit classrooms with an inspirational message about self-discipline. An avid reader, Bill also tries to inspire young students to read and write as much as they can. He and his family have been active in the community service organization Chicago Cares. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees at the Fox River Country Day School in Elgin, Illinois and he is an adjunct professor at Columbia College.

Bill will be conducting outreach to members from January to March, in addition to working with the Steering Committee of the new Communications Committee.

ACORE Welcomes Cheri Olf, Program Director, Higher Education Committee

ACORE is pleased to announce that Chéri Olf will be joining the staff as Program Director of the Higher Education Committee (HEC).

Chéri Faso Olf has over 15 years of management experience in the Higher Education, Not-For-Profit and Electric Power industries. A skilled communicator, Chéri has been recognized for her ability to cultivate strong business relationships, as much as for her convivial way of motivating and mobilizing professionals to achieve their goals. She is adept at leading groups of people, managing complex business processes, and propagating corporate and product identity.

Prior to joining ACORE, Chéri spent six years in management positions with Boston University's Corporate Education Center - the largest provider of corporate Technical and Project Management training in the North East. As Director of Information Technology Programs, and Assistant Director of Computer Career Programs at the University, she was responsible for managing curriculum development, sales, and deployment of over 100 instructor led and E-learning programs. During her tenure at Boston University, Chéri also developed and delivered an award-winning curriculum and lecture series designed to aid professionals in career transition.

In the early 1990s, Chéri was a founding manager of Career Source - a highly successful flagship organization in Massachusetts' grant-funded Employment Resources initiative. It was there that she counseled adults transitioning from public subsidy to employment. In addition to several years in administrative management of large-scale construction projects, Chéri spent her early career managing permitting and public relations for Sterling Power, LLC, a peak power generation project for United Power Systems, Inc. of Bethesda, Maryland.

Chéri's dedication to the Earth is evident in her involvement with the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, Save the Bay, and her recent appointment to the Recycling Committee of her seaside home town in Rhode Island.

The HEC aims to provide information, forums and other resources to facilitate the use of renewable energy on campus, investment by endowments in clean energy funds, and establishing educational resources. Please visit the Higher Education Committee website for further information.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Xcel Energy recently signed a cooperative agreement for an innovative "wind to hydrogen" research, development and demonstration project. Researchers will analyze and compare hydrogen production from wind power and the electric grid. The hydrogen will be produced through electrolysis.

The agreement supports the President's Hydrogen Fuel Initiative, which seeks to develop the hydrogen, fuel cell and infrastructure technologies needed to make it practical and cost-effective for Americans to choose to use fuel cell vehicles by 2020.

The new wind-electrolysis system will be at NREL's National Wind Technology Center, where hydrogen will be produced, compressed and stored to be used as a vehicle fuel or to generate electricity. The project will compare electrolyzer technologies and researchers will examine issues related to system efficiency, integration, compression, storage, cost and the use of a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas.

This partnership combines NREL's expertise in renewable energy and hydrogen with Xcel Energy's expertise in energy conversion, transmission, distribution and use. Minneapolis-based Xcel Energy plans to add 1,200 MW of wind energy capacity in Colorado, Minnesota and Texas by the end of 2007.

Xcel Energy plans to invest more than $1.25 million in the project. NREL and the Department of Energy plan to invest approximately $750,000.

Please visit the NREL Newsroom for more details.
