Nevada Governor to Participate in POWER-GEN Renewable Energy & Fuels (PGRE&F) Town Hall Meeting

Washington, D.C. - Nevada’s newly sworn in Governor Jim Gibbons will give the keynote speech for a distinguished panel of government leaders in a special plenary session at POWER-GEN Renewable Energy & Fuels (PGRE&F) - the largest all renewables trade show in the country. In his years in Congress Gibbons has been an advocate for renewable and alternative energy. He has stated that he wants Nevada to become energy independent and is taking steps to stimulate the state’s renewable energy industry.

Governor Gibbons will be joined on the panel by Jon Wellinghoff, Commissioner, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; John Mizroch, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, U.S. Department of Energy; John Geesman, Commissioner, California Energy Commission; Linda Conlin, Vice Chairperson, Export-Import Bank of the United States; Jackie J. Gleason, Administrator, Rural Development, Business and Cooperative Programs, USDA Rural Development.

The moderator will be Michael T. Eckhart, President, American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE). He is also a member of the POWER-GEN Renewable Energy & Fuels Executive Board and Conference Committee Co-Chair.  “We are exceedingly pleased to have Governor Gibbons give the keynote at the Town Hall Meeting, especially with his years of leadership in our field,” said Mr. Eckhart.

The Town Hall Meeting format will allow PGRE&F participants to question directly senior government leaders involved in the renewable energy and bio-fuels sectors.

The session will be held on the final day of PGRE&F, Thursday, March 8, 2007. It will take place from 10:30 AM to noon in the Islander Ballroom at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

POWER-GEN Renewable Energy & Fuels is co-sponsored by PennWell Corporation and ACORE.
