Military Pursues Green Energy
May 2, 2012 -- According to the Army Energy Initiatives Task Force website, the Army manages more than 15 million acres within the U.S. and spends nearly $4 billion a year on energy. The branch needs an additional 2.5 million megawatt hours of renewable energy through collaboration with the private sector to meet its goal of 25 percent renewable energy by 2025. The Army has released a draft request for proposals for renewable energy generation on federal installations nationwide.
