Susan Ackerman is an attorney and was appointed to the Oregon Public Utility Commission in March 2010 by Gov. Kulongoski.
Prior to her service on the OPUC, she was in the private practice of law representing a variety of clients in electricity and natural gas regulatory matters, including electric and natural gas rate cases, pipeline and wholesale power rate cases, transmission matters and contracts, wholesale power sales and contracts, natural gas contracting, competitive procurement, and integrated resource planning, among others. Her clients included public preference customers of a federal power marketing agency, independent power producers, a local natural gas distributor, and the Bonneville Power Administration. She has represented clients before the OPUC, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the National Energy Board of Canada.
She currently serves on the Electricity Committee of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and was appointed by NARUC Chair David Coen to the NARUC-U.S. DOE Smart Grid Working Group in 2010.
