Climate Change Committee

ACORE encourages its members to participate actively in the organization, including ACORE’s committees. Through participation, members can take an active role in shaping the future of renewable energy and develop working relationships with national leaders in business and government.

Scope

ACORE's Climate Change Committee is organized around three key activities: information exchange, networking opportunities, and education on the role of climate change policy in increasing renewable energy deployment.

Climate change regulation, and transitioning the U.S. economy to a lower-carbon future, is likely to be one of the most significant drivers of renewable energy deployment since the dawn of modern renewable energy technologies.

Key areas expected to be addressed by the Climate Change Committee include:

  • Recognizing the role of renewable energy as a solution to climate change;
  • Understanding how climate policy--including international, federal, state, regional and local regulations and policy--may spur renewable energy deployment;
  • Exploring how financial incentives related to climate change policy may foster renewable energy deployment, including carbon credits, renewable energy certificates (RECs), tax incentives, grants and other financial mechanisms;
  • Providing a forum discussing developments in climate science and policy, including how physical changes in the environment may impact renewable energy deployment;
  • Exploring other climate changes issues of interest to committee members.

Membership

All ACORE members are welcome to participate in the Climate Change Committee.
