ACORE Committees

ACORE is creating a leadership forum across all renewable energy sectors, building a greater sense of common purpose, developing a better understanding about renewable energy issues, and sponsoring national outreach about the benefits of putting renewable energy to use in America.

ACORE established committees to work on issues of critical importance to their sector of the industry. Since 2004, ACORE members have built four working committees and established two collaborations:

Higher Education Committee
The Higher Education Committee provides forums, information, tools and other resources to academic institutions to increase the use of renewable energy on campus.
Utility Committee
The Utility Committee was formed to identify and address the key issues that face electric utility organizations as they adopt greater amounts of renewable sources of electricity.
Biomass Coordinating Council
The Biomass Coordinating Council is actively working to accelerate the adoption of renewable fuels, biopower and biobased products through policy initiatives, convening, networking and communications.
CEO Council
The CEO Council is comprised of an invited group of Chairmen, CEOs, Presidents and Managing Directors of renewable energy suppliers and their financiers.
American Bar Association Renewable Energy Committee Collaboration
This collaboration between ACORE and the American Bar Association offers monthly renewable energy teleconferences, with live locations in major cities across the U.S. Programming is of most interest to professionals in law, policy, business, financing and related fields.
REC Trading Working Group Collaboration
The REC Trading Working Group collaborates diligenty on linking the various mandatory and voluntary renewable energy credit trading programs in the U.S. It is organized by ACORE, the American Bar Association and the Enviromental Markets Association.

Developing Committees

ACORE members have shown a strong interest in developing successful working committees focused on specific areas of discussion.  There has been strong interest in three major areas of focus:  communications and branding of renewable energy, renewable energy finance and renewable energy from an international perspective. To meet this interest, the following committees are in development:

Climate Change Committee
Members will gather to concentrate on renewable energy topics and their greater applicability to climate change.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee, formed to foster industry-wide, consensus-driven communications for the benefit of the entire renewable energy community, works to communicate the benefits of renewable energy to the public and policy leaders.
Financial Services Committee
The Finance Services Committee strives to bring together the nation's leading financiers to further renewable energy by harnessing the power of capital markets.
International Committee
The International Committee serves to interact with global policy leaders on the advancement of renewable energy; bring quality information on foreign renewable energy markets to the United States; and partner with REEEP, REN 21, and other international organizations committed to developing effective renewable energy policies and programs.

Proposed Committees

Proposed committees are those that have been suggested by members. They currently have no membership or leadership. Over the next 5 years, through the vision of their co-chairs and diligence of their members, the below committees will develop into full standing member committees.

Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Working Group
This committee will focus on integrating energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building design.
Distributed Generation Committee
Working on issues related to distributed generation, members will explore topics that relate directly to the renewable generation of electricity, heat and fuels.
