Former Viridity Energy CEO appointed to head state utility regulatory agency

Washington, DC – The New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) announced this week that American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) Board Member Audrey Zibelman has been officially designated as Commission Chair. The primary mission of the PSC is to ensure safe, secure, and reliable access to public utilities for New York State’s residential and business consumers.
“I am honored and grateful that Governor Cuomo has offered me this leadership position on the Commission,” said Ms. Zibelman. “I believe that my 25 years of work and experience in the public utility sector, as well as the renewable energy knowledge and insight I have gained from my time on the Board at ACORE, will enable me to better serve the people of New York.”
Audrey Zibelman is the Founder and previous President and Chief Executive Officer of Viridity Energy, Inc. She formed Viridity after more than 25 years of electric utility industry leadership experience in both the public and private sectors. She is a recognized national and international expert in energy policy, markets, and Smart Grid innovation. Prior to forming Viridity, Ms. Zibelman was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of PJM, a Regional Transmission Organization that operates the world’s largest wholesale power market and serves 14 states throughout the eastern United States. While there she was responsible for all aspects of PJM’s transmission planning, market grid operations and corporate administration.
